The SCC proposals don't generate traffic,  just accommodates it. The SCC proposals are said to increase traffic capacity on the A12 so the A12 takes more traffic off the side roads accommodating for example,  the forthcoming Brightwell  Lakes residential  traffic and the Sizewell C  construction traffic. The A12 proposals are being keenly scrutinised by  Martlesham Council because we wish to see:

  • Safe roundabout crossing for all users of the A12
  • Safe  bridge crossings for pedestrians and cyclists passing over the A12 bewtween the residential areas and employment/retail areas
  • The Barrack Square improvements promised through the Brightwell Lakes development, are delivered
  • A mobility hub and welfare facilities with wider bus lanes and EV charging points for bikes and cars, are facilitated in the Parish
  • Junction options which  will direct traffic away from Gloster Road on to the A12
  • Safety for pedestrians in the retail car parks
  • Options which  mean the A12 is quicker than using local rat runs
  • The reduction of traffic , and the speed of traffic, on the Felixstowe Road
  • Wider feeder lanes and clearer lane markings approaching all main and mini roundabouts
